The Baader Meinhof Complex (2008)

The acclaimed drama The Baader Meinhof Complex (2008) is based on Stefan Aust’s 1985 book of the same name, and takes us back to the time of German left-wing radicals in the 1960’s and 1970’s. The Red Army Faction, also known as the Baader-Meinhof Group, was influenced by the Nazi generation and members implemented various terrorist plots that resulted in sometimes gruesome deaths. Nominated for the Academy Award’s Best Foreign Language Film category, director Uli Edel’s The Baader Meinhof Complex takes an unflinching look at a difficult time in German history that, timewise, is not so far removed from present day.
