You may feel big and blue while watching The Big Blue (1988), not to be confused with the small screen series The Big Blue Marble (1974-1983). Under the pen and direction of Luc Besson (who also serves as co-producer), this PG-13 movie is a fictionalized account of the champion diver Jacques Mayol (Jean-Marc Barr). He’s obsessed with the sea while his pal and rival Enzo Molinari (Jean Reno) is addicted to danger. But the solidarity of their salty union comes into question when tempting traveler Johanna Baker (Rosanna Arquette) comes between them in pursuit of Jacques’s jock. As you can guess, Johanna’s feminine wiles make things fishy between the friendly gents. Will Enzo’s future with his buddy suddenly be all washed up? Will you be able to control yourself when you see Jean-Marc in the buff? No need to raise your hand (or another part of your anatomy) since this is a rhetorical question. First, Monsieur Barr touts his toned torso while boning his woman in bed. Then the scene switches gears and shows the nude dude swimming in the sea. In other words, you may splash your pants when you get a gander at the skintastic actor flashing his abs, ass, sack and shaft underwater. Also known as Le Grand Bleu, this skinternational flick features dialogue in English, Italian and French. Yet when Monsieur Barr bares all, there’s no need to read any subtitles. Needless to say, the pic picked up a César Award and a standing ovation in our trunks!
