Old TV shows never die — they just get adapted for the big screen! The Dukes of Hazzard (2005) reunites audiences with classic Southern stereotypes such as Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds), Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson), Bo Duke (Seann William Scott), Luke Duke (Johnny Knoxville) and, of course, Daisy Duke (Jessica Simpson). The movie’s plot centers around Hogg’s plans to strip-mine Uncle Jesse’s farm for coal. Along the way, we encounter Bill Pullman (Barry Corbin), Billy Prickett (James Roday Rodriguez), Cooter Davenport (David Koechner), Deputy Enos Strate (Michael Weston), Governor Jim Applewhite (Joe Don Baker), Laurie Pullman (Alice Greczyn), Pauline Powers (Lynda Carter), Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane (M. C. Gainey), and the XXL panties on Derek “Sheev” Sheevington (Kevin Heffernan). The movie also includes cameos by Broken Lizard alumni: Charlie Finn, Erik Stolhanske, Jay Chandrasekhar, Paul Soter, and Steve Lemme. But the real fuel powering this action comedy is the flesh flashed during the end credits. Even though we don’t see Mr. Knoxville’s cockville, Johnny does manage to moon the camera at the 01:42:46 mark. Thanks to this revealing outtake, we can assess just how cheeky he is. Despite the fact that this box office hit didn’t please most critics, it nabbed an MTV Movie Award nomination for Best On-Screen Team. If that’s not enough of a success, the funny flick was followed by the PG-13 DVD The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning (2007). Judging by the fans’ response to the prequel sequel, more than just the South was ready to rise again!
