Review

The Outing (1987) is a quintessential 1980s horror flick concerning a group of teenagers who think it’d be cool to spend a night in a natural history museum. Mind you, this is two decades before the folks at 20th Century Fox used a similar idea to launch their franchise of the funny family fantasy films Night at the Museum (2006), Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009), Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014), and Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again (2022). Back in the ’80s, Alex (Andra St. Ivanyi), Babs (Charity Merrill), Ross (Barry Coffing), Terry (Raan Lewis), and their pals were dealing with low-budget special effects as a vengeful genie picks them off in true slasher fashion. Yes, evil takes many forms in this twisted pic and not always of the supernatural variety. For example, topless Tony (André Chimène) and shirtless Mike (Red Mitchell) don ancient masks and black Speedos while trying to have their way with Gwen (Tracye Walker). Mr. Mitchell can be seen thrusting on top of her with his ass out before his accomplice is killed by an unseen force. This causes Red to role over and expose his erect cock! When he removes his mask, we can put a head to that shaft. And with perfect poetic justice, he’s impaled by the horns on his elaborate headdress. In other words, he’s hoisted on his own costume! Even though movie critics dissed this chiller diller, Mr. Man applauds the flesh it delivers!
