Bad Boys (1995)

Everyone from indie filmmakers to Hollywood studio execs know it’s good to be bad. That’s why they’ve released Bad Influence (1990), Bad Lieutenant (1992), Bad Girls (1994), Bad Santa (2003), Bad Grandpa (2013), Bad Asses (2014), Bad Moms (2016), Bad Samaritan (2018), and The Bad Guys (2022). Of course, we can’t forget the crime comedy Bad Boys (1995), not to be confused with the crime drama Bad Boys (1983) starring Sean Penn. This mega-hit features Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. The Michael Bay movie was such a box office smash, it spawned the sequels Bad Boys II (2003), Bad Boys for Life (2020), and Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024). In this original flick, we meet buddy detectives Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) who are working in the Miami-Dade narcotics division. The plot kicks in when a stash of confiscated heroin valued at $100 million is stolen from police station headquarters. Suspecting that it may be an inside job, both guys must risk their lives to find the culprit and save the department from governmental closure. Along the way, we encounter Captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano), Captain Alison Sinclair (Marg Helgenberger), Fouchet (Tchéky Karyo), Jo-Jo (Michael Imperioli), Julie Mott (Téa Leoni), and Mr. Smith’s skin! Will is willing to show off his sweaty pecs during a chase scene. As such, we get to ogle the dude’s ebony chest at the 1-hour and 35-minute mark. Sure, we wish we could see more but this bad boy still makes us feel good!
