Boys on the Side (1995) is about an out-of-work singer named Jane (Whoopi Goldberg) who answered an ad from a real estate agent (Mary-Louise Parker) looking for a ride-share to accompany her to California. The two stop in Pittsburgh to pick up a third, Holly (Drew Barrymore), who is escaping a violent partner. The girls now road trip to the west and learn a lot from each other.
