The German comedy Freilaufende Männer (2011) in English translates to “Freewheeling Men”, though this one's really more of a coming of middle age flick about some old dudes realizing that they need to come to grips with what their lives have become. The film centers around a boy's trip, as it follows Thomas Zabel (Wotan Wilke Möhring) as he looks for a way to celebrate his 40th birthday. Him and his amigos decide to rent out a fancy Swedish villa on a lake, so soon enough Thomas, the horrific hypochondriac, Jens (Mark Waschke), the married man who cheats on his wife all over the place, and Malte (Fritz Karl), the macho tough guy trying to be a badass despite being way too old for that nonsense, are acting like teenagers again. Refusing to act their age, they try hitting on local chicks, getting silly drunk, and having heart to heart conversations about how their lives are disasters. But this careful account of the uniqueness of male friendship isn't without a few scenes that'll have you hoping to be friends with benefits with any of these middle-aged DILFs. Like all gatherings of dudes, it's not long before everyone's getting naked, and things are getting weird. Wotan Wilke Möhring, Mark Waschke, and Filip Peeters will make sure you will be enjoying yourself by getting completely nude, showing off every inch of their bodies while skinny dipping.
