Funny Pages (2022) marks the feature writing and directing debut of Owen Kline, the son of Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates. The film follows high school student and aspiring cartoonist Robert (Daniel Zolghadri) whose life is turned upside down following the sudden death of his mentor Mr. Katano (Stephen Adly Guirgis). Robert decides not to finish high school and moves to Trenton, NJ where he begins working at a comic book shop. He soon crosses paths with Wallace (Matthew Maher), once an artist for Image Comics, and after striking up a tentative friendship with him, soon finds himself becoming Wallace's errand boy in increasingly insane situations. This pitch black comedy is not for the faint of heart and the film's only two nude scenes are both played for laughs. Playwright and actor Stephen Adly Guirgis shows off his bare ass while modeling for Robert in the film's opening scene, while we later see the tip of Michael Townsend Wright's cock peeking up through the top of his underwear when he is passed out!
