Review

Larry Peerce’s critically acclaimed Philip Roth adaptation, Goodbye, Columbus (1969), came ten years after the publication of the novella, a story with both romantic and comedic elements that follows the relationship between two American Jewish people who are very interested in each other but discover they live in two very different worlds. Complications ensue as things escalate—mostly stemming from the significant issues of socioeconomic status, class levels, and attempts at assimilation—but some clothes get shed in the process as well. Richard Benjamin plays main character Neil Klugman, and in one scene we get to say a brief “Hello” to his nice cock when he gets out of bed and walks out of the bedroom while totally naked. Michael Meyers, on the other hand, plays Ron Patimkin, and we get to see his hot, hairy body for a bit while he walks around in nothing but his white underwear.
