Review

Over the decades, fans of flesh have been entertained by skinematic finds such as The Flesh and Blood Show (1972), Flesh and Bullets (1984), Flesh + Blood (1985), Excess Flesh (2015), Flesh Blanket (2019) and Suitable Flesh (2023). Yet before these movies were released, Pop Art icon Andy Warhol produced Flesh (1968), also known as Andy Warhol’s Flesh. Under the pen and direction of Paul Morrissey, the salacious story begins when Geri (Geraldine Smith) wakes Joe (Joe Dallesandro) up by smacking him with a pillow. The nude dude puts his morning wood to good use and attempts to hump her. She ties a scarf into a bow around his cock, before telling him he has to earn $200 so her girlfriend (Patti D’Arbanville) can get an abortion. Ever the obliging eyeful, Joe does what he’s told and, since he’s a male hustler, he does what he knows. Morrissey lets his camera linger on the charismatic Mr. Dallesandro as he hits the New York streets looking for meat. Joe gives an old man the thrill of his life by going full frontal 31 minutes into the flick. At the 01:20:17 mark, the lovely leading man is playfully stripped down by Geri and Patti. As such, we get to see his abs, sack, shaft and ass! Needless to say, this is a must-see pic. No wonder, Morrissey followed it up with the horror flick Flesh for Frankenstein (1973) featuring more of Dallesandro’s skin. We’re applauding the encore with a standing ovation in our jeans!
