Invisible Life (2019)

It’s ironic that a visual medium such as cinema often makes movies about what cannot be seen. How else can one explain the releases of The Invisible Man (1933), The Invisible Boy (1957), The Invisible Maniac (1990), The Invisible Woman (2013), Invisible Centerfolds (2015), Invisible (2020), and The Invisible Thread (2022). Of course, we’d be remiss not to add Invisible Life (2019) to this list. Also known as The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão and A Vida Invisível de Eurídice Gusmão, this Portuguese-language flick is filled with intrigue, mystery, and sexiness. The plot follows two sisters — Eurídice Gusmão (Carol Duarte) and Guida Gusmão (Julia Stockler) — who were separated as children in Rio de Janeiro during the 1950s. In other words, they were raised in a patriarchal era that wasn’t so female friendly. But once they grow up, the siblings seek each other out, only to believe the other is living the life that she really wants. Sounds like a “grass is always greener on the other side” scenario. Yet in this case, it’s more like the man-bush is always fuller on film. Thanks to Gregório Duvivier’s revealing role as Antenor, we can ogle the dude’s pubes as well as his ass, abs, sack and uncut shaft. No wonder the movie won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard section. In fact, Gregório goes above and beyond by baring an award-worthy erection! Talk about a hard body. Luckily for us, Mr. Duvivier’s dick is far from invisible!
