Marina (2013)

The biopic Marina (2013) focuses on the early years of famed Italian singer Rocco Grenata (Matteo Simoni). Following his earliest days growing up in Italy and eventually moving to Belgium, the coming-of-age story plots Rocco’s upbringing by his coal miner father Salvatore (Luigi Lo Cascio) and his resourceful and loving mother Ida (Donatella Finocchiaro). During the ups and downs that accompany family life, Rocco learns to play the accordion and falls in love with Helena (Evelien Bosmans), the daughter of the owner of the local grocery store, who happens to despise Italians. Rocco soon finds himself in trouble with his father, Helena and the police. Between all the chaos, bitterness, confusion and emotions, the hopeful performer is still able record singles and he eventually heads to the United States where he becomes an international success. Matteo Simoni becomes a skinternational success when he briefly bares his buns, balls and penis while getting goofy on top of a train car. Mr. Man would love to play Matteo like an accordion!
