Wealthy, glamorous romance writer Mary Fisher (Meryl Streep) and frumpy, unhappy Ruth Patchett (Roseanne Barr) couldn't be more different. Mary is an artificial and selfish woman who takes advantage of numerous people in her life (including her butler), while Ruth is genuine but vengeful. When Ruth's husband Bob (Ed Begley Jr.) begins having an affair with Mary, this She-Devil vows to ruin both their lives—one possession at a time.
It turns out that Bob isn't the only recipient of Mary's carnal affections, either. Her butler (A Martinez) spends quite a bit of time hanging out in the mansion in nothing but his speedo, while always nearby Bob favors walking around in only a towel. We've got to hand to it Mary—she may be a she-devil in her own right, but she has great taste in men.
