Single All the Way (2021)

No Nudity

Review

Christmas time, amirite fellas? Single All the Way (2021) is yet another in the latest wave of basic cable type Christmas movies that flood the marketplace in the final quarter of any given year. First off, all due respect to the legends Kathy Najimy and Jennifer Coolidge, both of whom we stan and are not fit to touch the hem of their garment. And Jennifer Robertson, aka Jocelyn from Schitt's Creek, is great too. They're hardly the issue in this formulaic Christmas rom com centered around misunderstandings of biblical proportions. Peter (Ugly Betty's Michael Urie) is in a pinch this holiday season and needs to bring home a boyfriend to save face at his mother Kathy Najimy's house this Christmas. He borderline blackmails his best friend Nick (Philemon Chambers) into filling this position and Nick decides to help his friend out. Little do either of them know that Kathy Najimy is planning to set her son Peter up with James (Luke Macfarlane), a local hunk and spin instructor. Jocelyn from Schitt's is Peter's sister, Jennifer Coolidge is the perpetually un-sober Aunt Sandy, there's stuff going on, Barry Bostwick is the dad, it's weird. It's not as sexy as you want it to be as it basically just swaps gay men into the typically female and straight male roles in a rom com of this caliber. Michael Urie and Philemon Chambers share a passionate yet fully clothed kiss, but at least Philemon shows off his flawless shirtless physique in another scene! No wonder Peter wanted to take him home for holidays! Who wouldn't want to find Philemon under the proverbial Christmas tree?
