Written and directed by French actress Julie Delpy, Skylab (2011) recounts a large family get together one sunny summer weekend. But not just any weekend. It’s July of 1979 and Skylab, the giant NASA launched research station is about to crash back to earth. Rumors are spreading that it's going to land in France and crush whatever it hits, which gives an extended family get together in France in order to celebrate Granny Amandine’s (Bernadette Lafont) sixty-seventh birthday, a bit of a "this might be the end" feel. Eleven-year-old Albertine (Lou Alvarez) is convinced it's going to land on them and kill her whole family, though she stops caring when she accidentally ends up at a nude beach and meets a sexy teen boy. Her parents Anna (Julie Delpy) and Jean (Eric Elmosnino) are lefties fighting about politics with Conservative ex-military man Roger (Denis Menochet), which makes for some awkwardness around the dinner table. As the weekend progresses some crazy and life-changing events take place. What doesn't happen? Skylab hitting anyone in France. Yes, it ends up it will disintegrate into the Indian Ocean, with a few pieces popping up in rural Australia. Oh well. At least Denis Menochet gives us something to remember when he shows off his dangling dong in a scene where he wakes a couple up in the middle of the night while wearing nothing but a tank top. He clearly isn’t shy as he stands there bottomless and talks to them. We get a long look at his uncut tool, then as he turns to leave, we get a view of his round ass. When a birthday party has full frontal nudity, you know the good times are rolling! He'll always be best known for the opening scene in Inglorious Basterds (2009), but for horny bastards like Mr. Man, that's the more compelling piece of cinema! They should study that fine piece of man meat in a guy lab!
