Something Wild (1986)

After Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) came out, we were coming while going to see Something Wild (1986) on the big screen. Back in the 1980s, this flick was considered kinky. However, now it’s tame and almost quaint. Nevertheless, it’s still titillating. In other words, this semi-romantic comedy may give you a semi! The plot kicks in when an uptight, New York bond trader named Charles Driggs (Jeff Daniels) accepts a ride from a free-spirited chick called Lulu (Melanie Griffith), though her real name is Audrey Hankel. Instead of bringing Charlie back to his place in Long Island, she takes him on a road trip to Pennsylvania. Along the way, they go to her high school reunion. They also encounter Audrey’s husband Ray (Ray Liotta). Even though he’s a bit of a psycho and an ex-con, the handsome hunk sure looks fetching when he runs across the street in a skimpy Speedo. Needless to say, the shirtless stud is a sight for sore eyes — and a soft peen! Perhaps that’s why Mr. Liotta was named Best Supporting Actor at the Boston Society of Film Critics Awards. Not to be outdone, Mr. Daniels reveals his hairy chest when Lulu handcuffs him to the bed for some sex. During the morning after scene at the 19-minute mark, we can view the bare back and nude booty on Mr. Daniels. The film’s script by E. Max Frye won an Edgar Allan Poe Award. But we think it should have gotten a Poke Award!
