The First 9½ Weeks (1998)

Remember Paul Mercurio, the Australian cutie who kicked up a storm with his sexy dance skills in Baz Luhrmann's Strictly Ballroom (1992)? Well, when his leading man career didn't pan out the way he thought, he jumped over to making softcore thrillers like The First 9½ Weeks (1998) instead. A prequel to the much more heralded Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke flick 9½ Weeks (1986), Mercurio stars as Matt, an investment banker who heads down to the Big Easy in order to secure a land deal with billionaire Francois Dubois (Malcolm McDowell). However, he soon becomes involved in a torrid affair with Dubois' wife Emily (Clara Bellar), which opens the door to him getting mixed up with a Satanic cult who is planning something big for the upcoming Mardi Gras celebrations. The first film in the series was known for its sex scenes that involved getting freaky with food, but this one doesn't get as kinky as that one. Strictly speaking, the film had us dying to go balls deep in Paul Mercurio.
