The early life of John Lennon has been chronicled in countless books over the years, but very few films have tackled the period before he was "John Lennon." Director Sam Taylor-Johnson's film Nowhere Boy (2009) sets out to chronicle the young Lennon's life before he met Paul, George, and Ringo, particularly chronicling his troubled relationship with his own mother Julia (Anne-Marie Duff). Played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lennon is a confused young man who lives with his Aunt Mimi (Kristin Scott Thomas) because both of his parents have proven themselves unfit to properly care for the young man. Following the death of Mimi's husband, John reconnects with his mother Julia who introduces John to the music that she loves and teaches him how to play the banjo. However, her own mental problems keep her from forming any sort of real bond with John and the perpetually rejected boy lashes out at anyone who seems to actually care for him. As he progresses through his teenage years and eventually meets Paul McCartney (Thomas Sangster) and George Harrison (Sam Bell), eventually admitting them into his skiffle band The Quarrymen, he starts to become the genius musician we all know and love, but the film really dwells on those years of hardship the man himself likely wanted to leave far behind in the past. There is a brief flash of ass from Aaron Taylor-Johnson when he pulls his pants down to hook up with a girl in the woods, which is as close as we'll come to seeing a young John Lennon's ass! This Nowhere Boy will make you a Nowhere Man!
