It took 23 years for a sequel to Alfred Hitchcock's immortal thriller Psycho (1960) to get made, but thankfully audiences only had to wait another three years for Psycho III (1986). Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) is once again living and working at the Bates Motel, this time in the possession of the corpse of Emma Spool (Claudia Brayar) a waitress who revealed to Norman in the previous film that she was his real mother. A month after Spool's disappearance, local law enforcement begins snooping around the Bates Motel, suspicious that Norman might be in possession of the missing woman and Norman decides to hire a dirtbag musician named Duane Duke (Jeff Fahey) as the assistant manager to give himself more time away from the public eye. A guest named Tracy Venable (Roberta Maxwell) checks into the motel who turns out to be a Los Angeles journalist working on a book about serial killers, having come here under the suspicion that Norman is back to his murderous ways. Norman's mental state is further undone by the arrival of a guest named Maureen Coyle (Diana Scarwid) whose initials make Norman think of his original victim Marion Crane. This sets the pieces in motion for a showdown for the ages at the Bates Motel where people check in, but almost never check out! While never the most skin-filled franchise, this entry disappoints when it comes to the complete lack of nudity on display. Jeff Fahey does look mighty sexy at his 80s peak, showing off his hot and hairy chest in a number of scenes, but waiting for anyone in this flick to go nude might turn you into a Psycho as well!
