Borstal Boy (2000)

Based off the 1958 autobiography of the same name, Borstal Boy (2000) focuses on Irish teenage IRA volunteer Shawn Hatosy (Brendan Behan) and his planned bombing mission in Liverpool. Before he can detonate his damage, Hatosy is arrested and thrown into a borstal where he is surrounded by his sworn enemies. Emerging from the group of gangsters is Charlie Milwall (Danny Dyer), and openly gay sailor that eventual develops a bond with Hatosy. Interacting with Milwall and the other fellow reformers forces the teenage terrorist to reexamine his life with traumatic and revealing results. In a disturbing scene, Dyer dares the reform school rapist to rape him, which he kindly, and violently, obliges. The gayilor’s duds are yanked down, revealing his bare borstal.
