An uptight Manhattan couple re-examines their lives after landing in a fee-love commune in Wanderlust (2011). George (Paul Rudd) and his wife Linda (Jennifer Aniston) are living the New York yuppie dream until the bubble pops and George loses his job. Unable to afford their exorbitant rent, the couple heads to live with family in Georgia, but an unplanned detour lands them in “Elysium,” an anything-goes alternative community. As the clean cut couple starts to see the virtues of a laid-back lifestyle, they must decide if they want to return to their stressful former lives. Supporting players include Alan Alda as the commune’s acid-damaged founder, Malin Akerman as a free-love siren, and Justin Theroux as the group’s magnetic leader. The cool thing about hippies is that they’re not afraid to go au natural, and Joe Lo Truglio goes the extra mile to get in to character and treats us to multiple full-frontals as the commune’s nappy nudist. The scenes are more comical than erotic, but Wanderlust isn’t a total wander-bust.
