The Zone (2011)

Like Orson Welles (who wrote, directed, produced and appeared in 1941’s Citizen Kane), Joe Swanberg wrote, directed, produced and appeared in The Zone (2011). Of course, the latter pic is nothing like Welles’s cinematic classic. Nor should The Zone be confused with Jonathan Glazer’s Oscar-winning drama The Zone Of Interest (2023). Instead, this indie flick failed to secure distribution or critical praise. In fact, Justin Lowe of The Hollywood Reporter said, “Less is less in another middling mumblecore outing.” Yet less is fine with Mr. Man when it comes to the cast’s clothing. In other words, what this no-budget film lacks in funding, it makes up for in flesh. For starters, Lawrence Michael Levine and Kentucker Audley doff their duds to get naughty together 29 minutes into the movie. In addition to revealing their same-sex preferences, these nude dudes expose their collective pecs, balls, pubes, buns and junk! Minutes later, Mr. Levine shows off his erect rod while jerking off. He then flashes his ass at the 01:06:20 mark. As for the story, the plot involves an engaged couple who share a Brooklyn apartment with a female roommate. Everything is going fine until a strange visitor shows up to spend the night. Over the course of the evening, the uninvited guest sleeps with all three of the residents. Needless to say, this results in much consternation for the characters and mucho dudity for the rest of us. If you want to get into the masturbation zone, look no further than The Zone!
